I'm modifying my SRG's smoker box

Hey guys, if there is anyone that has or is going to get an SRG from Char-Broil you might want to make this change to your smoker box. This seems to really help with the amount of smoke and to help with the quality of burn from your wood chips/pellets.

If you look you will see where I drilled every other hole to increase air flow (both sides) and I drilled 3 holes in the front (side faces meat) 2nd picture

What modifications did you make to the smoker box? I didn't find the pictures. I saw your vent that was added to the lid on another post. What other modifications have you made? I am looking at the SRG because it is so versatile, but I would like to get good smoke/bbq out of it. Any suggestions for a seasoned cook new to smoking?

Forget the smoker box and go get you a "Tommy Ring" or atleast that's what it is known by. A Tommy ring is a 10 or 11 in ring placed on the bottom of the SRG and the basket sits on it. Now once you have the rind in place add wood pellets, chips aroound the ring and turn the unit on high for 15 mins to get them going, once going you have a better chance of smoke gettting to the meat. If your not sure email me at mybigeasy@gmail.com and ref SRG or TBE so I'll know what it is about
